4.  Updates

  1. Holiday Marketing--  Gerry, Greg, & Pat gave an update on the plans for the upcoming holidays, beginning with the Old Webster Open House Nov. 8.  Theme will be Webster Wonderland.  Coordinated light pole decorations will go up;   a scavenger hunt around the theme of the Rep’s “Christmas Story”  is planned to get people into stores.  Three Thursdays in December will be wine & cheese nights.    Sandbox Creative has been hired to develop branding and graphics.
  2. Web site-- Sandbox Creative has been hired to develop the business & events web site.  A site map schematic was distributed for discussion.  Some “key links” need to be added/corrected.  Categories of businesses need to be expanded, particularly professional services
  3. Farmer’s Market—Julie Ridlon from Maplewood’s Market was not able to attend.  The Kirkwood Market master initially accepted, then cancelled.  It was noted that recruiting vendors and having the right market master to handle day to day decisions are both critical.  Kim and Chalegne agreed to work with Roger as a committee to move this project along.

5.  Business Recruitment

The commission brainstormed on what is involved in more aggressively seeking businesses to locate (or stay) in Webster Groves.  Suggestions:  talk to people who lease space; develop info package for new businesses; provide demographic data; solicit testimonials; investigate Unchained America.  A presentation on the Gould Evans Development Framework Plan was requested for next meeting.
