Crime Log Update
On 05-04-2020 at 9:25 AM a theft was reported in the 800 block of Brookdale Ave. The victim reported that someone had rummaged through their unlocked vehicle overnight and had stolen the vehicle’s key fob and a check made payable to the victim’s mother.
On 05-04-2020 at 7:33 PM a theft was reported in the 7800 block of Big Bend Blvd. The victim stated that sometime prior to 11:00 someone had stolen their 2015 Nissan Sentra from the parking lot. The vehicle was reported to have been unlocked with the keys inside it.
On 05-05-2020 at 2:24 PM a Fraud was reported in the 600 block of Lockwood Ct. The victim stated they had been contacted by a credit collection agency concerning an $800 installment loan that had been established in May of 2019. The victim was unaware of the loan and was unsure how their personal information had been compromised.
On 05-05-2020 at 8:20 PM officers were dispatched to assist a stranded motorist in the far-left traffic lane of westbound I-44 near Elm Ave. The first officer arrived and approached the vehicle to provide assistance. The lone occupant exited the vehicle and immediately begin shooting at the officer. The officer was struck by the gunfire multiple times before he could react. The officer then returned fire and was able to stop the threat. The officer was treated at an area hospital and has been released. The suspect died at the scene. The suspect’s motivation is unknown. The St. Louis County Police Department is handling the investigation.
On 05-08-2020 at 9:24 AM an Attempt Burglary was reported in the first block of Selma Ave. The reporting party discovered a broken first floor window, but was unsure of when it occurred. It did not appear that entry had been gained into the building.
On 05-08-2020 at 11:43 AM a Fraud was reported in the 600 block of Locksley Pl. The victim reported that a $300 loan had been taken out in their name through Credit Ninja by an unknown person. The victim was unsure of how their personal information had been compromised.
On 05-09-2020 at 8:42 AM a theft was reported in the 800 block of Brookdale Ave. The victim reported that sometime overnight someone had stolen their white 2019 Toyota Rav 4 from the driveway. Earlier in the week, the victim had reported that the key fob to the vehicle had been stolen.
On 05-09-2020 at 10:45 AM a Property Damage was reported in the 7900 block of Big Bend Blvd. The clerk stated a male subject had attempted to purchase beer but did not have proper identification and was refused. The subject became irate and slammed to the door as he was leaving, breaking the door frame at the hinges. The subject was located and taken into custody. Formal charges are pending.
During the week of 05-04-2020 through 05-10-2020, the Police Department responded to 353 calls for service, 8 auto accident, 7 alarms and assisted the Fire Department 29 times.
